Introduction:

This is a REFRESHER course for staff who attended CPI classes during the 2014-15 school year and are approaching their one-year anniversary.  

Overview:

Basic principles of crisis development and strategies to protect staff and students will be reviewed. Discussions will focus on classroom experiences of participants.

This class involves movement; please wear comfortable shoes and clothes.

Classes may be canceled or combined if minimum number of registrants do not sign up.

Class Notes:

This class is offered for staff who completed the BASIC class in Nonviolent Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) during the 2015-16 school year.  CPI certification expires unless staff attend Refresher classes.

The Refresher class addresses the basic principles of crisis development and strategies to prevent or de-escalate situations.  It is designed to deepen understanding and application of the philosophy: Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security.

What is taught in this class?

This class will review the basic principles of Nonviolent Crisis Prevention Intervention.  It will address the crisis development model and consider ways to de-escalate situations.  Practice in strategies to ensure personal safety will be included.
